Project overview
GRS certification is a voluntary, international, and comprehensive product standard aimed at supply chain manufacturers' control over product recycling, regulatory chains, recycled ingredients, social responsibility and environmental regulations, as well as chemical restrictions. The goal of GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the hazards caused by their production.
GRS Goal
1. Align definitions across multiple applications;
2. Track and trace the input materials for recycling;
3. Provide tools for customers (brands and consumers) to make informed decisions;
4. Reduce the harmful effects of production on people and the environment;
5. Ensure that the materials in the final product are actually recycled and sustainably processed;
6. Promote innovation and address quality issues related to the use of recycled materials.
GRS certification audit content
Regenerated ingredients: Products with more than 20% regenerated ingredients are eligible for certification; If the product is planned to display the GRS label, the proportion of recycled ingredients must be greater than 50%
Social responsibility: Whether the working environment of employees is safe, whether they wear appropriate protective clothing, the health status of employees, whether there are workers who are not of appropriate age, and whether the weekly and monthly working hours comply with regulations
Chemical Management: Guidelines and Policies for Chemical Management Used in the Production Process of GRS Products
Environmental management: Does the company have an environmental management system that controls energy use, water use, wastewater, exhaust gas, etc
The benefits of GRS certification
1. Enhance the market competitiveness of enterprises in terms of "green" and "environmental protection".
2. Have standard recycling material labeling.
3. Strengthened the brand awareness of the enterprise.
4. It can gain global recognition and is easier to step onto the international stage.
5. Enterprises have the opportunity to be included in the procurement lists of international buyers and world-renowned companies.
GRS certification application process
1. Application: Apply to the auditing company. CU auditing company applies online, and ITS officials need to submit in writing.
2. Contract: After evaluating the application form, the reviewing agency will provide a quotation based on the situation of the application, and the budgeted expenses will be detailed in the contract. The applicant will confirm and sign the contract as soon as they receive it.
3. Registration: After receiving the contract signature for verification, the CU review agency will register and issue a registration number for the applicant. ITS review agencies do not have this requirement.
4. Payment: After the auditing agency issues a quotation contract, the enterprise needs to make payment.
5. Audit: After confirming that the necessary system documents have been organized, the audit agency will arrange auditors to conduct on-site audits, and a formal report will be issued within two weeks after the audit.
6. Certification: The auditing agency shall conduct an internal review within two weeks of receiving the formal report. If any non conformities are found during the audit, different measures shall be taken according to the actual situation. All non conformities must be corrected within the prescribed time before the certification qualification certificate can be issued. Before issuing the original certificate, a draft will be sent to the applicant. After the applicant confirms that there are no errors, the original qualification certificate will be issued and sent to the applicant's designated address.
